Brief Program Description

Diploma in Accounting and Payroll Program is designed for the students want to join the field of accounting, finance and taxation. The Program will provide a sound foundation of bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, personal taxation and small business taxation in the modern business environment, nationally and internationally. Upon completion of Diploma Program, the successful students will have the ability to explain major concepts related to accounting areas and perform chores of bookkeeper and basic accounting with completing basic payroll, payroll deductions and taxation tasks. This program will be delivered through a variety of methods including lectures, assignments, projects etc. and will be supervised by the individuals who are expert in their filed

Career Occupation

After completion of this Program, students will qualify for entry level jobs in the field of bookkeeping, payroll and taxation. The study is mainly targeting: NOC Code 12200: Accounting Technicians and bookkeepers NOC Code 13102: Payroll Compliance Administrator Entry-level positions often provide considerable potential for advancement. According to NOC Codes 2021 edition, NOC 12200 and 13102 both will provide options including; • Accounting bookkeeper • Accounting technician • Bookkeeper And • Benefits officer - payroll administration • Pay advisor • Pay and benefits administrator • Pay and benefits clerk • Pay clerk • Payroll clerk • Payroll officer • Salary administration officer

Admission Requirements

1. Applicants must be graduated from grade 12 OR 2. Must be at least 19 years of age prior to starting of the study period, and provide proof of meeting English language competency requirements any one of the following: Gateway College Program Outline Diploma in Accounting and Payroll Gateway College Page 2 of 5 2022.06.12 • Grade 12 English/Communication or University or College level English Course (non-ESL) where English is the principal language of the country and the language of instruction as well: minimum C is acceptable. • Proof of four-year undergraduate degree from a recognized institution where English is the principal language of the country and the language of instruction. • Gateway College English Language Placement Test with a minimum score of 5.5/5.5/5.0/5.0 out of 9.0 in Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing • Standardized English Language Test Report of one of the following: o TOEFL: 56 iBT (with no individual score less than 13) o IELTS Academic Overall 5.5 with no band test score less than 5.0 o CAEL Overall 50 with no individual score less than 40 o CELPIP 6/6/5/5 in Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing o CLBPT 6/6/5/5 in Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing
