Program Overview :

This program is designed to educate learners to be able to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialization. Learners will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. They will be also able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subject and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options. Upon successful completion, learners should be able to achieve CLB level 8 and IELTS 6.5.

Textbooks: $60, Materials/Supplies: $40, Program Completion Processing: $150, Administration: $150, Health Insurance*: $165 (3 months coverage wait period for BC Medical Service Plan)

Admission Requirements:
  • Applicants must provide proof of meeting English language competency requirements. (Please refer to the language proficiency policy.)
Language Competency Requirement

(Evidence of one of the following test scores)

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic or General -- test must be within the last two years: Overall score of 6.0
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): test must be within the last two years, IBT only -- Overall score of 78
  • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP - General): test within the last two years, Listening 7, Speaking 7, Reading 7 and Writing 7
  • Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLB PT): test must be within the last year: Listening 7, Speaking 7, Reading 7 and Writing 7 (Note: a CLB Report Card from a LINC Program may also be accepted.)
  • Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN): test within the last two years, Listening 7, Speaking 7, Reading 7, and Writing 7
  • Gateway College ESL Placement Test Level 7
  • ‘Integrated Skills English Language – Upper-Intermediate’ course (Gateway College): 60% or above
