History

  1. Gateway College was founded in July 1986 as Community Professional Medical Careers Ltd. (CPMC). Equipment was purchased, premises were leased, curriculum was developed and the first classes commenced in September 1986.
  2. Continued growth led to the incorporation of CPMC in March 1989.
  3. An additional adjacent 1,500 square feet of office space was leased in May 1993.
  4. Planning to offer additional courses unrelated to the medical field, we changed the name of the college to Gateway Careers Inc. (GCI) in 1997.
  5. The college obtained accreditation from the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia (formerly known as PPSEC) to demonstrate the high quality of our education in 1999.
  6. In 2006, our Vancouver campus relocated to the current location at 395 West Broadway and modified the name to Gateway College (GC). Our proud Long-Term Care Aide program with ongoing upgrades to the curriculum has remained the most reputable program in the School of Health Care.
